SKY General information: The SKY project is a field test of applications already available on the market or coming soon. It is carried out by a large number of ordinary people in real traffic conditions. The SKY project started with several initiatives such as intelligent speed advisory testing with 2,000 participants around primary schools, intersection collision avoidance using V2I with the same number of participants, small children traffic safety using RFID with 300 participants, pedestrian traffic safety using GPS cell phone by 700 participants, hazard warning on winter road by 150 participants, real time probe car data collection by 2,700 vehicles, etc.

This FOT is in order to grasp the effectiveness of Dynamic Route Guidance using real-time probe car data.

Recruitment goals and methods

2,000 ordinary drivers and 700 taxis in their every day car life. Ordinary drivers, Nissan customers, who live in Yokohama city who answered yes with some incentives, free 3 media VICS beacon on-board antenna and free car navigation map database update.

Methods for the liaison with the drivers during the FOT execution

Drivers were asked to use their car in their everyday life.

Methods for data analysis, evaluation, synthesis and conclusions

Using data gathered from participants, some test cars run with/without probe car data in congestion route in Yokohama city and travel time and accuracy of expected arriving time were compared.
