DIAMANT stands for Dynamische Informationen und Anwendungen zur Mobilitätssicherung mit Adaptiven Netzwerken und Telematikanwendungen or Dynamic Information and Applications for assured Mobility with Adaptive Networks and Telematics infrastructure.

DIAMANT is a regional project under the form of a Public-Private Partnership. Given a five-year runtime, DIAMANT is subdivided into five phases (Phase I: Design; Phase II: Demonstration; Phase IIIa: Arrange field trial: Phase IIIb: Perform field trial; Phase IV: Prepare for regular operation). Phase II was started in the 1st quarter of 2008.

The aim of the DIAMANT project is to create the prerequisites for a sustained increase in efficiency and safety in road traffic by means of vehicle-vehicle and vehicle-infrastructure communication (C2X-communication). Rapid deployment of applications to improve road safety and harmonise the traffic flow by means of a Public Private Partnership (PPP) that covers the complete range of expertise required. To prepare existing research results for regular operation. To implement the following applications:

  • Information for drivers
  • Warnings for drivers
  • Virtual influence on traffic
